HIGHLAND FARMS - Kentucky This 2,000-acre showplace offers a rare opportunity to purchase one of the finest horse farms in the country. This prime, Bluegrass location near Lexington, in the heart of Bourbon County, offers a spectacular, new, 35,000-square-foot, three-story stone mansion; 19 additional homes; 30 barns; 66 miles of fencing; nine miles of roads and several ponds and streams. The main home, built of Kentucky limestone, was constructed with the finest appointments available, including a slate roof with copper gutters and flashings. The terraces surrounding the mansion are made of flagstone from Pennsylvania. This authentic stone manor features antique glass; solid cherry doors and flooring, all custom made; and mantels of native stone and solid cherry. Just some of the countless amenities include a library with solid-cherry bookcases from floor to ceiling, an 8-foot-wide gallery that runs the length of the house and features two built-in trophy cases, as well as dual powder rooms and a 42-foot by 20-foot indoor pool with a 12-foot deep diving end and a 9-foot-deep whirlpool. A 5,000-square-foot guest house is attached to the main house as a wing. There are two elevators and staircases that lead to the upstairs, which has a complete bedroom and a large master-bedroom suite, a cherry fireplace and a luxurious bath and dressing complex. All this and much more offered in this fantastic property. Entire property offered at $40,000,000. The main house, several barns and additional buildings with 700 acres are offered at $25,000,000.

The only things that don't come with Highland Farm are jockeys.
Highland Farm, an equestrian property near Lexington, Ky., may well be the most expensive piece of real estate in the country right now. However, its $60 million price tag includes more than just a house and some land. With the property comes one Kentucky Derby winner, 115 breed mares, 30 barns and 19 other homes, all set on some 2,000 acres of bluegrass. The champion horse is Real Quiet, winner of the 1998 Kentucky Derby. George Hofmeister, who owns the property and the horses, is not getting out of horse racing but simply moving to another state, according to his real estate agent.
Built at a cost of $15 million, the main house has approximately 35,000 square feet of interior space. There are 9 bedrooms and 12 baths. Marilyn Hoffman of Hoffman International Properties in Dallas has the listing.
